IRVING, TX — After going a combined 4-0 over the weekend, Baylor men’s tennis senior Johannes Schretter was named the Big 12 Co-Player of the Week, announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.

It is the first time Schretter has won a weekly honor this season and the second time in his career. He is the third Bear has been recognized in 2019.

Playing at the No. 1 spot, Schretter collected his highest ranked win of the season with a straight-set win over No. 33 Spencer Papa of Oklahoma last Friday. It was also the second-highest ranked win of his career. On Sunday, he took down Oklahoma State’s 84th-ranked Matej Vocel in three sets on Senior Day.

Schretter has a team-high eight singles win over ranked opponents this season and is 3-1 in Big 12 play.

In doubles, the senior paired with Constantin Frantzen and collected a dominant 6-1 win over Oklahoma and a 6-2 victory over Oklahoma State to help BU collect the doubles point in each match. He and Frantzen are 3-0 in Big 12 play together.

Schretter’s award is Baylor's 48th Big 12 weekly honor since 2000. Schretter is one of 22 different Bears to be recognized in that stretch.

The sixth-ranked Bears close the regular season with a road match against No. 23 Texas Tech Saturday in Lubbock. The match is set for 6 p.m. at the McLeod Tennis Center.
