WACO, TX — No. 4 Baylor equestrian (7-4, 3-1 Big 12) looks to capture its fourth conference title when it competes at the 2019 Big 12 Equestrian Championship, running March 29-30 at Totusek Arena in Stillwater, Okla.

Entering as the No. 1 seed after a 3-1 record in the regular season, the Bears look for their second title in three years but first under second-year head coach Casie Maxwell.

“We are really excited that the Big 12 Championship is finally here,” Maxwell said. “It’s such a fun event being able to travel the horses and compete multiple times. It’s a nice feeling going in the No. 1 seed, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have the same amount of work as everyone else here in order to be able to come out on top. Our team is well prepared and ready to take on TCU in round one tomorrow.”

BU has claimed three Big 12 titles in program history, two of which were won in Waco (2010, 2017) and one when TCU hosted last in 2015.

Tournament host, OSU sits at the No. 2 seed with a 7-5 season and a No. 3 national ranking, having finished out the regular season with a clean home record.

With a the No. 7 national ranking, TCU claims the No. 3 seed for the weekend, most recently upsetting a sixth-ranked SMU in Springtown, Texas.

Baylor will face TCU in the first round on Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. CT, followed by second round action between TCU and Oklahoma State starting at 4:15 p.m. The Bears will conclude the competition on Saturday when Baylor takes on the Cowgirls.
