No. 5 Baylor equestrian (5-3, 2-1 Big 12) will face No. 7 Georgia (3-4, 2-2 SEC) in non-conference play Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Willis Family Equestrian Center.
“The team as a lot of great energy heading into this weekend’s meet against Georgia,” head coach Casie Maxwell said. “We have been pushing and practicing hard through our tough spring schedule, and I like where we stand at this point. We have great momentum coming off a big win two weeks ago, but we still a lot left to achieve.”
The Bears are coming off of an 11-8 home win over seventh-ranked OSU to open spring play, pocketing wins in three out of four disciplines and earning all four MOP honors.
In the latest NCEA event rankings, Baylor equitation on the flat ranked No. 2 in the nation, followed by No. 3 in horsemanship, No. 6 in reining and No. 9 in equitation over fences.
The Bulldogs most recently defeated No. 2 A&M, 12-8, in an upset victory in their home arena for their second win over the Aggies in the 2018-19 season.
Inclement weather is expected to move the competition to the indoor arena with equitation over fences scheduled to begin competition, followed by reining and then horsemanship and equitation on the flat.
A bounce house and pony rides will take place during the meet, weather permitting.
