Shardae LaRae is excited to help Central Texans start their day!

Born and raised in Dallas, Shardae is a Texas girl through and through. After graduating from the University of North Texas in Radio, Television and Film, she spent most of her career in the state serving as a television news journalist in cities such as Amarillo, Dallas, Beaumont and Tyler.

Shardae’s love for journalism is rooted in solid community connections. She started a reading program with Tyler Independent School District where she hosted reading sessions with students at several elementary schools. She used that platform to introduce more diverse books and authors to students. Shardae is most proud of her work as a community-focused journalist reporting on topics such as major severe weather events in East Texas to transracial adoption, cheerleading concussions, teacher burnout amid the Covid-19 pandemic and so much more.

During her days off, Shardae loves to spend time with family, take HIIT fitness classes, and watch movies. By the way, her top three movies are as follows: Apocalypto, Forrest Gump, and Get Out. Shardae would love to hear your fitness tips, favorite films, and , of course, story ideas.
