MCGREGOR, TX — Bakeries are brimming with business as the first major holiday rolls in after major pandemic shutdowns are lifted.

Cuppiescakes, down Main Street in small-town McGregor, is chalk full with orders.

"We are really busy...we have a lot of orders that are already on the board, we’ve actually had to turn some orders away” explained Branda Pavlas, Co-Owner of Cuppiecakes.

Thankful for staying busy, the bakery attributes their success during the pandemic to the incredible support from their community.

"When it first started we were worried about eggs, we were worried about butter, but anytime someone would come by they would ask can we go get you something, they would bring us eggs or butter or anything we needed...just checking on the welfare of us in general and our business“ Susie Hughlett-Co-Owner of Cuppiecakes.

They say they've seen more people order cakes for small celebrations during social distancing.

“Our celebration cake orders went through the roof,“ said Pavlas.

“That just shows how it’s brought everybody together I think,” said Hughlett.

In terms of Mother Day, they advise getting orders in as soon as possible, as most bakeries are brimming with business; and if for some reason you are too late in ordering treats, Cuppiecakes say they have the community's back.

“We do cupcakes every day. We have around 29 flavors that we do every day, so you can come in and get what you want,“ said Hughlett.

The many bakeries 25 News spoke with explained that most weddings and large events they had scheduled were postponed or rescheduled instead of outright canceled.

“Our customers have blessed us in ways, that I can’t, we are just speechless” concluded Pavlas.
