WACO, TX — Many business, including nonprofits, are struggling to stay staffed and operational during this time, but a local staffing agency is making sure local business have the people in the positions they need.
“People were losing their jobs just right and left,” explained Tom Ramsey, President of Total Placement Staffing, looking back on the last two months.
"Back when the pandemic started and people were losing their jobs, I had people calling me wanting to work,” said Judy Clark,Total Placement Office Manager.
One of those people was Mary Burris, a mother of three put out of a job because of the pandemic.
“I was calling and calling them. I was probably a bother, but I was calling them needing a job bad,” she said. “Got my children, car payment, and bills, and I was like, "What am I going to do next?" So from then on I started getting a hold of Total Placement, and by the grace of God they called me and said we’ve got a place."
Total Placement Staffing placed her at the Salvation Army store in Waco as a paid volunteer.
“It is a real hit on our operations and our ability to serve and do the things that the Salvation Army is expected to do, and what we are called to do. We jumped on the chance to bring in additional hands so that we could clean the building, we could organize and restructure things here at the thrift store,” said Major Jim Taylor, Commanding Officer of Salvation Army McLennan County.
"It meant a lot to me. It meant so much to me because I don’t know what I was going to do. I didn’t know what I was going to do,“ said Burris.
Total Staffing explained they are always placing positions. If you are unemployed and in need of work total Placement Staffing Solutions number is (254) 751-7313.
