BELTON, TX — That Art Place in Belton has had to close it's doors since the shelter in place, but take home art kits are keeping her business alive.

"Pick out the pieces that you want and any colors that you want to go with it," Michelle Weaver, owner of the store said. "Then, after they're painted, they have to be turned back into the studio. We fire them in the kilns, and they're all food safe and bright and shiny."

You can pick from painting pottery to canvas art and much more. Along with that, they are hosting a coloring book art contest on Facebook. All you have to do is post a picture of your kids drawing on their Facebook page.

"We'll look through the designs pick out the 20 of the ones that we think will be the best for our coloring book, and then we are going to host a digital coloring book for download on our website," Weaver said.

The theme is to draw something that makes you smile. Keeping kids creatively active during this shelter in place can be difficult, Weaver stresses the importance of how art can help.

"This is kind of an uncertain time, nobody knows how long this will go on or what exactly will happen so creativity is an outlet for a lot of people to try something new," Weaver said.
