Handcrafted and unique beverages is what Waco Cha is all about. Their goal has always been to bring the community together but when the Coronavirus Pandemic took over, they had to adjust.

It started as something small.

"About two years ago we opened at the farmers market under a little tent," said co-owner, Devin Li.

Selling unique Boba Tea in countless flavors for all to enjoy. Last year, they expanded by launching their mobile tea truck and this year on May 14th, the doors to their storefront business finally opened.

"Once we had the food truck, we knew this storefront was going to come."

A new beginning that happened right in the middle of the Covid pandemic. Li says he didn't expect the virus to spread as rapidly.

"I did not expect it to go this far and go this big."

Nevertheless, Waco Cha adapted by continuing to provide grab-and-go services for the community.

"The community really embraced us and supported local small businesses so we were able to keep our cash flow and fund our construction so the community helped us a lot."

The support he says they are beyond grateful for. One regular customer says Waco Cha is about more than tea.

"I think it's really cool that there is a place like this in Waco so that we can learn and enjoy other cultures," said Macy Bein.

Li says they are passionate about building community and celebrating diversity. Their hope is to bring back fun gathering for everyone to enjoy.

"Hopefully once Covid is over or controlled we would love to host events again for people."

As they like to say, it's more than Tea, it's a communi-TEA.

They are open Monday through Thursday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. & Friday and Saturday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
