Tillie Marie's is looking on the bright side during a pandemic

HARKER HEIGHTS, TX — The pandemic has effected many businesses but Tillie Marie's is always looking on the brighter side when times get tough.

"It was a blessing actually the pandemic brought so many customers to us," owner, Kendra Meeks said.

She was even surprised to see new faces stop by Tillie Marie's during a time when she was expecting business to drop.

"They're even driving from Austin, San Antonio they're taking drives to come support us," Meeks said.

Tillie Marie has been in business for two years and Meeks has loved every minute of running a restaurant. Someone who loves to visit just as much is customer, Auqua Mackey.

"The soulfulness in the food, seasoning in the food. She puts love in the food that's so good," Mackey said.

Her favorite dish is the enchiladas, whether they're the special for the day or not, Meeks cooking feels like home to many.

"It's just a home away from home like I'm eating at home when I'm eating here," Mackey said.

All the employees that you'll meet at Tillie Marie's are family, Meeks loves working with the ones she loves most.

"My kids, they come they cut up lettuce, they clean take trash out my family is very supportive," Meeks said.

Tillie Marie's is located inside the Jackpot Bingo Hall in Harker Heights, their hours are Monday-Thursday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
