WACO, TX — Pura Vida Paddle is here to offer some fun in the sun and it's a great place to practice social distancing as well.
On the Brazos River, under Buzzard Billy's is a dock filled with stand up paddleboards and kayaks.
Pura Vida Paddle has been in business there since 2017.
Owner Erin Ward grew up in Waco and one day while she was living in San Antonio with her family she had a change of heart.
"I felt God was putting a movement in us to come home and bring this to Waco," Ward said.
They moved back out to Waco and has felt right at home since.
"The whole reason we did it Pura Vida which means pure life in Costa Rica and we didn't just name it because it sounded cute or anything like that," Ward said. "It's really a way of life in Costa Rica and that's what we wanted to offer here."
When sheltering in place, Pura Vida offered equipment to go but they much rather be on the dock.
"I just see people on the water, from us from Waco Paddle Company just everybody and that's what these businesses are is coming together as a community," Ward said.
Creating memories is what they're all about, and they love being able to do so now that the state is reopening.
"We were blown away with how Waco showed up," Ward said. "It's like a family and when people come down here I seriously feel like they're apart of our extended family."
