Pendley Party Productions has been organizing great parties in Central Texas for 30 years.
Unfortunately, no one is having a party anytime soon. Since big social gatherings were put on hold, it's cut into busy season for owner Paulette Pendley and her party planning team.
Pendley thought she would have to close the doors completely but she realized tents have become a hot commodity with business owners.
"We've been trying to help our community in other ways people always think of us just for parties but we can help in other ways," Pendley said.
With many big tents in storage she's helping places like Ascension Providence. They needed tents set up as COVID-19 tests are done outside and in a drive-through setting, the hospital needed to be accommodated and Pendley was there to help.
Chick-Fil-A was another business that reached out, as employees work outside more often they wanted to keep their customers and employees comfortable.
"We're going into a crazy weather times spring time in Texas we just looked and said hey we gotta figure something out so that our people aren't standing out," owner, David Sykora said.
Sykora has been impressed by the work Pendley has done an continues to do after the tents are set up.
"Pendley has been phenomenal - they've come out multiple times to make sure that if we have a storm or get some heavy rain that everything is safe," Sykora said.
When the shelter-in-place order was established, Pendley thought her doors would have to be closed until this all blew over. Little did she know, she would become a new expert in the tent business.
"I'm just happy to have a business and that I know will be here that can sustain this crisis," Pendley said.
Her heart goes out to those businesses that are struggling each day to keep afloat, although she's only covering her basic costs, she's thankful for the opportunity to keep going.
