HARKER HEIGHTS, TX — Papa's Cafe has been serving great home-style cooking for over a decade and this pandemic has hit them hard.

Needing to cut most of their staff and closing their dining room the start of this pandemic was difficult for them. As they open their dining room to 25% it's brought joy in such hard times.

"I see a lot of my friends from Harker Heights, I live in Salado now but I come from Salado to have breakfast here most Sunday's," customer, Shirley Stephenson said.

Stephenson has been enjoying Papa's Cafe food for more than 10 years and she's loved stopping by each week.

" I get to know the people and I get to know the menu pretty well, I feel like I could step in, in a moment if I needed to," Stephenson said.

Working there for 10 years herself, general manager Beth Browell has been so happy with the customer support.

"I've never seen anything like it, they were so generous everyone was so patient they made us feel a whole lot better with the situation," Browell said.

Even though they have been able to let customers sit down and enjoy their meal once again business has still been slow.

"We do a 3rd of the sales we used to do with dine-in, even with the 25% it's still not a lot," Browell said.

Times like today have been hard on everyone, luckily server Angela Bland has been able to keep her job. She's been serving at Papa's Cafe for 13 years and of course, she loves the regulars.

"It's real nice to see all the familiar faces because the one thing I enjoy most about my job is our customers," Bland said.

Of course, weather you work at Papa's Cafe, are a regular or just visit once you can feel the family atmosphere.
