KILLEEN, TX — Joker's IceHouse Bar & Grill is a great hangout spot in Killeen but when the pandemic hit and bars had to close, their doors followed suit.

It was hard for the owners and employees to leave their jobs not knowing when they'll get to come back.

Amanda Camphouse has been a bartender there for 5 years and her place of work has turned into a second home.

"It’s my family I've been here for so long and I know everybody and it's just a good environment to work in," Camphouse said.

When customers stop by, the feeling of home is passed on to them.

Erin Braun has been enjoying Joker's atmosphere for a year and a half.

"Definitely that the staff treats you like family every time you're in here. I've become very close with a lot of people," Braun said.

Staying as close as 6 feet apart, Joker's IceHouse isn't playing games when it comes to keeping their customers and employees safe.

They have multiple hand sanitizing stations around the restaurant, the wait staff is wearing gloves and precautions go even further making their customers happy to stop by.

"Having us stay at tables, and having waitresses come to us and everything's plastic so I felt totally fine I wasn't worried about health or anything like that coming in," Braun said.

It's still a bar but they're running more like a restaurant today.

"We had to reinvent the wheel basically we're currently going through hourly changes sometimes," owner, Eric Thompson said.
