BRYAN, TX — Jesse's Taqueria & Bakery has been serving Bryan since 2012. Some say the best breakfast taco is here while others come for the warm hospitality by owner Jesse and his employees.

They have struggled for weeks, like many restaurants, since the pandemic hit. As they want to keep a sense of normalcy they're keeping their doors open.

"We were all scared, we found out that we had to work this was not going to be a 15-day thing," Owner, Jesse Ocana said.

They lost about 50% of their revenue in the beginning but things have slowly started to pick up.

Long time customer Brandyn Leising-Gonzalez has loved to stop by for a taco every now and then and he's happy he's able to sit down and have the meal with his family.

"I feel a lot better right now than I did before unfortunately," Gonzalez said. "A lot more cleaning is getting done more often than most other times so I feel great just coming out now."

They're allowing the mandated 25% but they're also checking your temperature at the door. Ensuring everyone who comes to Jesse's Taqueria & Bakery is healthy and well.

"First of all we have to take care of the employees because the employees take care of our customers," Ocana said.

It's just one precaution they take so they can continue to stay open and see their customer's smiling faces.

"You don't miss something until you miss it," Ocana said. "It was just great of everybody coming in seeing all these good fine customers coming in it's just great and it's marvelous we're doing business as usual."

Jesse's Taqueria & Bakery has had to shorten their hours. They are now open Tuesday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information visit theirwebsite or follow them on their Facebookpage.
