WEST, TX — Gerik's Old Czech Bakery in West have decided to add a few new things to their menu during the pandemic.
They are now offering take home kolache and cinnamon roll kits that you can bake all on your own.
Gabbie and Gracelyn Salazar love baking with their grandparents - and ownerx of Gerik's.
Jeannie and Bryan Anderson grew up in West and they want to make sure their heritage stays alive.
"My mom and I baked every week so that just became my passion in life was baking and cooking," Jeannie said.
With their take home kits, it comes with instructions, but Gabbie and Gracelyn decided to post a step by step instructional video.
There you can see just how fun it is baking in the kitchen with your family.
"I feel like its fun and then you can do your own twist to it and you can do it however you like," Gabbie said.
Gerik's has seen a slow in business, as most of it comes from travelers driving through Central Texas.
"Our business is driven off the interstate especially on the baker side and that's been the biggest kicker during this tragedy," Bryan said.
Of course, they are more than thankful for their customers who live in the area that stop by frequently.
Not only serving pastries like kolaches and cinnamon rolls they also serve pizza in the evening.
The Anderson's have served the community for 20 years, weather its pizza or kolaches they aren't planning on leaving anytime soon.
