ELM MOTT, TX — Dee's Delicious Donuts has been serving the community since 1997 and the Covid-19 Pandemic was not about to stop them.
Regular, Alan Oakley, has come by each and every day for his coffee. Of course, the pandemic changed his daily routine but that wasn't going to stop him from supporting.
"For me it's important but certainly for the community, it's important they service Elm Mott they take care of people who need a meal," Oakley said.
Being in a small town many rely on the small businesses for their daily meals and owner, April Sanford sees that.
"We have a lot of people riding through, the drive-thru, on a bicycle things like that. They don't have the means to go into town and carry enough stuff back to fill their refrigerator," Sanford said.
Serving more than just donuts, they have many breakfast, lunch and dinner items to try out as well.
They have gotten to know the community and during the hardest times, Dee's Delicious Donuts takes time to check on them.
"We actually have a book in the back with their names and phone numbers. We call and check on them, make sure everyone is doing okay," Sanford said.
Even though our daily lives have changed, Dee's Delicious Donuts hasn't.
"The quality of the food their service none of that has changed, it's still just as good as it always was. I think they're working a little harder a matter of fact," Oakley said.
Sanford is humbled to see their hard work being recognized by many.
"It's definitely motivating to keep going because it's definitely long shifts," Sanford said.
They even extended their hours during the pandemic to help those who can't make it to the grocery store.
Open Monday - Friday from 5 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. and Saturday 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. after 2 p.m. during the weekday they will be drive-thru only. They are closed on Sunday.
