While COVID-19 has impacted a lot of small businesses and restaurants, they need your help now more than ever. KXXV met with some local Waco favorites who were implementing new safe and healthy ways to get your favorite meal at home.
The shelter in place order goes into effect starting Tuesday, but your favorite Waco restaurants will stay open.
“Its definitely effected us business wise, but we are just trying to keep our employees paid and get some good product to our guest,” said Wade Canuteson.
“We are considered an essential service since we do feed people, but we will do what restaurateurs do everyday... We will figure it out,” said Mary Duty.
And local restaurant have done just that. Sit down areas are staying closed, but employees are going the extra step so they can feed you safely.
“We have santizer where we actually sanitize anything that goes out whether it be a clipboard that somebody signs. We bring it back in and sanitize that. We change out our gloves anytime we deliver anything to vehicles,” said Wade Canuteson.
Poppa Rollos and Georges are just a few restaurants implementing new safety rules which include no customers inside the building, delivering food straight to vehicles, and wearing gloves while constantly cleaning doorknobs and handles.
“We’ve been spraying door knobs down for a month and half because it was in the news. And it was because we need to reassure our customers that we are on top of this and their safety is our paramount concern,” said Mary Duty.
What local spots really want the public to know: they’re still open and here for you.
“We need to be kind to one another. We need to help each other out. And if we do all of that. I do believe we will survive this,” said Mary Duty.
