COLLEGE STATION, TX — 1541 Pastries and Coffee has been open since 2009 and they're working diligently to keep their restaurant clean.

"Every time somebody gets up from the table, we come clean it and we have to clean the door," owner, Sam Olmedo said.

They even clean the register each time a customer or employee uses it.

Wearing masks is also a priority and washing their hands regularly.

"We didn't slow down on the restrictions that we had for our employees we wanted to keep it clean and safe for everybody," Olmedo said.

Employee, Samuel Chew is a college student at Texas A&M and coming back from a break in March, he was worried he wouldn't have his job.

"It was a pretty good relief knowing that they were still going to take care of us and give us a job and what not," Chew said.

Olmedo was determined to not lay off any of his staff.

On top of many other challenges, learning how to adapt to curbside was one that Chew needed to master.

"It was opening up a new door and a new challenge," Chew said.

They've all got the hang of it pretty quickly and it's thanks to Olmedo for keeping them and customers healthy and safe.

1541 is open Tuesday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
