WACO, TEXAS — Three decades later, former Branch Davidians gathered in Waco on Wednesday to remember the lives lost during the fiery ending to the Waco siege.

Hosted by survivor David Thibodeau, several former Davidans spoke during a memorial at the Taylor Museum of Waco History on Wednesday morning, reflecting on the siege.

In April 1993, 76 members of the Branch Davidians — including leader David Koresh — were killed in a fire that destroyed their compound near Waco after a 51-day siege by federal agents.

Nine, including Thibodeau, escaped the fire.

Several children were released from the compound during negotiations with federal agents, including Heather Jones.

Jones was just nine years old at the time. Her father did not survive.
