COLLEGE STATION, TX — Beatles singer Paul McCartney is pleading with Texas A&M University to stop it’s experiments on golden retrievers in it’s muscular dystrophy laboratory, seen in a video released by PETA.

The video, which went viral catching McCartney’s eye, caused him to reach out the the university.. The singer wrote in a letter to University President, Michael K. Young saying, “The video footage of golden retrievers in your university's dog laboratory is heartbreaking.”

PETA claims the dogs in the lab are bred on purpose to have a crippling form of muscular dystrophy. It says these animals often cannot walk, swallow, or breathe on their own.

Sir Paul McCartney ended his letter saying, “Please do the right thing by ending the suffering of dogs in TAMU's muscular dystrophy laboratory and switching to modern research methods instead.”

According to the video released by PETA, nearly 40 years of these experiments have yet to produce a treatment that reverses the symptoms of the disease.
