Midway High School head football coach resigns due to personal matters

WACO, Texas — Coach Shane Anderson has resigned as Midway High School's head football coach and athletics coordinator, the district superintendent Chris Allen announced Saturday morning.

In a letter sent to Midway families, the district said Anderson resigned to address personal matters.

The district said Esrom Martinez will take up the position as interim head coach for the rest of the season while the district athletics office coordinates the next steps in naming a future head coach.

WACO, Texas — Midway ISD confirmed to 25 News that Anderson is on paid administrative leave while the school investigates the situation.

WACO, Texas — Midway ISD has announced that Head Football Coach Shane Anderson is on leave.

"Coach Anderson will be away from the football program while the district looks into a non-student-related personal situation," wrote Dr. Chris Allen, Midway ISD superintendent.
