Mexia man dies after suspected suicide attempt

MEXIA — On Monday, June 1, 2020, at approximately 12:03 a.m., units from the Mexia Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department and the Mexia Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of N. McLendon Street in Mexia in reference to a possible suicide.

Upon arrival, First Responders discovered an individual who was in the residence and non-responsive.

The person discovered was a sixty-one-year-old man who is believed to be a resident of Mexia.

He was subsequently transported by air ambulance to Scott and White Hospital in Temple TX.

Despite the extraordinary efforts of medical and rescue personnel, the patient passed away in the early hours of June 1, 2020, at the hospital in Temple.

The Mexia Police Department has opened an investigation into the specifics of this tragic incident and is not releasing any further details at this time.
