WACO, TX — The City of Waco's own Youth Council held their teen forum this Tuesday evening.
The council encourages students to join the event and learn about different topics that teens encounter throughout school, like applying for financial aid, recycling and help with mental health.
Waco Youth Council uses the forum as a way for students to tackle student issues in a way that an adult can't quite do.
"As a youth, it's kind of harder talking to adults about these issues, because maybe they don't take you as seriously, or they can't relate, but since we're kind of in the same age gap, we're able to relate more to them, and figure out, and kind of think the same way, and be able to help in any way we can," said Reagan Thomas, co-head chair of the Waco Youth Council.
The council hopes for new members to join and become young leaders in their community.
Students can apply on the City of Waco website.
