WACO, TX — Baylor Helping hands was fundraising to buy a new walker for a nine-year-old boy named Cameron.
Cameron has Spastic Paraplegia Cerebral Palsy and substantial brain damage.
Despite his disabilities, Cameron has a strong personality and a smile. He had outgrown his old walker and was using a wheelchair in the meantime.
His mother, Jessica Montez, couldn't get enough help from her insurance to buy a new walker for Cameron, so she turned to Baylor Helping Hands for assistance.
With just a Facebook post and help from donors, the organization was able to raise $2,100 for a new walker. Cameron now has a walker that he will be able to use for the next five or six years.
"Now he can run around in the driveway with the kids, he could play basketball, he can do all of the things that he sees them doing that he was not able to before, so it feels really good to be able to get that for him, so that he can feel like just another kid," said Montez.
