WACO, TX — The University Baptist Church in Waco held a meeting Wednesday afternoon about their decision to perform same-sex weddings.
The church invited their congregation to meet concerning their questions, provide clarity, as well as listen to what members of the church had to say.
The decision was announced last Sunday, which left some with mixed emotions.
The University Baptist Church stated that the decision was tough, but they are proud of the congregation through the process.
"We are really proud of our people," said Joshua Carney, Lead Pastor at University Baptist Church. "We think that they're an emotionally intelligent bunch, and that they are good at caring. They're good at enduring hard things. So we're just honored that they're giving us this opportunity to enter in that anxiety space with them and process what this means for our community."
