WACO, TX — TxDOT Waco District held a public forum to discuss the different phases and what to expect during the I-35 construction.
The entire project is expected to be completed in four years. In that time, the reconstruction with be split up into three phases which will widen mainlanes to four in each direction, improve frontage roads, ramps and much more.
The purpose of the meeting was both to inform the public and to show them ways to stay safe during the transition.
"Although it's going to be, there's going to be work taking place. We want the traveling public to be able to transit this area safely and we want to be able to protect our workers out there as well," said Ken Roberts, spokesman for the TxDOT Waco District.
The Waco Metropolitan Planning Organization will start a series of meetings starting May 1 at the South Waco Community Center for the public to voice their needs for future improvements.
