BRYAN, TX — Three people were killed after a vehicle pulled out in front of an 18-wheeler.
The Bryan Police Department says around 6:30 p.m. on Monday, November 4, officers were called out to the 10300 block of West SH 21 at OSR for a major crash.
After investigating, officers say a 2013 Lexus was traveling south in the 8000 block of OSR and stopped at the stop sign. An 18-wheeler was traveling westbound in the outside lane on West SH 21. The driver then proceeded through the intersection, failing to yield to the right-of-way and was struck by the 18-wheeler, said officials.
The vehicle had three occupants at the time.
The driver of the Lexus, 81-year-old James William Bacak, of Burton, Texas and his wife Irene Bacak, 80, who was riding in the back seat, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
The third occupant riding in the front passenger seat, a 66-year-old man and relative of the couple, was taken to CHI St. Joseph Hospital with life threatening injuries. Police announced on Thursday that 66-year-old Thomas Bacak of Richmond, Texas has died from his injuries.
Bryan PD says the driver of the 18-wheeler was uninjured and is cooperating fully with the investigation.
The Bryan Police Department is asking anyone with information to contact the Criminal Investigation Division at 979-209-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 979-775-TIPS (8477).
