MCLENNEN COUNTY, TX — A Tennessee man was arrested after leading troopers on a high speed chase through two Central Texas counties on Tuesday morning

The chase started in Hill County on Interstate 35 around 8:40 a.m. when Texas Department of Public Safety troopers attempted to make a traffic stop on a Dodge Ram pickup truck for a minor traffic violation.

The driver, who DPS identified as 28-year-old Jeremie Simpson, drove away from the trooper, at one point reaching speeds over 110 mph. While still in Hill County, Simpson threw a weapon out of the pickup, which was found near mile marker 364.

Simpson was charged with felony evading arrest, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a substance and misdemeanor possession of a substance and possession of marijuana.
