Dropping temperatures means dropping tire pressure for many drivers across Central Texas.
Jamie Ruiz, customer service expert at Tire To You in Killeen, said it's common to see an increase in customers this time of year.
"When it gets colder, you are going to lose wear on your tires. The ride quality when you drive is going to go down," Ruiz said.
That's why he said making sure your tires are properly inflated is especially important heading into the winter months.
"So literally you are either riding on, pretty much deflated balloons," Ruiz said.
According to the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration, 738 fatalities were linked to accidents caused by tire pressure in 2017.
The agency recommends that drivers check their tire pressure monthly and never solely rely on tire pressure monitoring systems.
Air pressure checks are just one of the free services offered to customers at Tires For You in Killeen.
"We want to take care of people who think that they have to drive to a gas station and pay 2 dollars for air. We like to take care of people," Ruiz said.
