WACO, TX — Mandy Harvey, a singer/songwriter, paid a visit to the music department at Baylor.

She had time to speak to the students, answer questions and also speak about her struggles she went through with being a deaf musician.

Harvey completely lost her hearing at the age of 18, forcing her to drop out of her music program at Colorado State University. She later re-found her love for music and was even a finalist in the 12th season of America's Got Talent.

She closed out her time at Baylor with a special performance with popular covers, as well as her own original music.

Harvey's performance left many applauding, especially the music department.

"Knowing the story of somebody who loves music, struggle, came back to it, fought for it, I think is very inspiring," said Harvey.

Mandy will travel to Fort Worth on Monday to get ready for her next performance on Tuesday.
