VALLEY MILLS, TX — If you would like to make a donation to the family of Lily Mae Avant, please make sure to donate to one of the official accounts.
Due to the amount of coverage Lily has received, several false accounts have been created in Lily's name, according to Wendy Scott, a family member.
Lily Mae Avant, a 10-year-old from Central Texas, died after battling a brain-eating amoeba for more than a week.
"Unfortunately, due to the amount of coverage Lily’s story has received, we are getting reports of fake accounts being set up in Lily’s name," said Wendy Scott in a Facebook post. "In an effort to eliminate confusion, please know the following locations are the only approved donation sites our family has set up."
An account has been set up at First National Bank in Valley Mills, and First National Bank in Whitney. The other option is to donate through Venmo @LilyLaciJohn
Cards and letters to the family can be sent to P.O. Box 5308 Laguna Park, TX 76644.
