The Robertson County Sheriff's Office was the victim of a ransomware attack.
The department says the attack happened on August 16 and led to the encryption of data on certain systems within the Sheriff's Office.
According to the department, the attack did not impact any personally-identifiable information, sensitive-personal information, or protected-health information. The attackers did not use any data collection tools or other mechanisms commonly used to remove data.
The county has reported the incident to law enforcement authorities in order to investigate the attack. The county has also rebuilt its systems from the available back-ups.
Robertson County says it is working to improve its network security to prevent future incidents from occuring.
