Caller threatening to shoot up Groesbeck High School initiates 'lock out'

GROESBECK, TX — Groesbeck police responded to a threat at Groesbeck High School on Monday.

According to police, at approximately 2:06 p.m., they were informed of a threat received via 911. The caller stated, "I'm going to shoot up the high school," and then it disconnected.

The cell phone was believed to be an inactive cell phone but was capable of accessing 911 services.

The caller did not identify a specific high school but the signal was received on the Groesbeck tower.

As a precaution, the police department notified GISD administration and a "lock out" was initiated.

Police arrived on scene and assessed the situation and determined that the threat was not credible.

The "lock out" was lifted shortly before 3 p.m.

Police remained on the scene as a precautionary measure.
