Multiple agencies respond to manhunt in Mexia

MEXIA, TX — Multiple agencies responded to a manhunt in Mexia on Sunday evening.

Police said that they received a call about a disturbance around 6:32 p.m. in a residence outside of Mexia in Limestone County.

The Limestone County Sheriff's Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, the Texas Rangers, the Navarro County Sheriff's Office, Texas Department of Corrections, the Wortham Police Department, the Mexia Police Department, and the Mexia Fire/Rescue Department all responded to the scene.

Police said they used helicopters and drones to find the suspect, Lee Erler.

Erler was charged with one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and three counts of aggravated assault on a public servant. The investigation is on-going. The Limestone County Sheriff's Office is the lead investigating agency.

One individual was transported from the scene of the incident to Parkview Regional Hospital with injuries, but is currently listed in stable condition.

One arrest was made near the scene which was not related to the original disturbance call.
