HILLSBORO, TX — The Hillsboro Department of Public Safety said that an elderly woman died in a fire early Monday morning.
They said when they arrived on scene around 1 a.m., the fire was fully involved at 425 Park Dr. The Hillsboro Department of Public Safety, Itasca Fire, Bynum Fire and Whitney Fire offered mutual aid.
When they arrived on scene, another structure at 421 Park Dr. was also on fire. Hillsboro DPS was told that an elderly woman was still inside the home.
The home had collapsed, and they were not able to rescue her. Her body was recovered from the building around 3 a.m.
In the second home, 5 adults and 1 child were evacuated.
The fire is being investigated by the Hillsboro Fire Marshal.
