MARLIN, TX — Marlin City Manager Cedric Davis will be holding a press conference after an auditor found at least $600,000 worth of discrepancies within the city's finances.
Davis said they are in the process of hiring a forensic auditor that will be able to look through the books.
The city's finance director, Vickie Grines, turned in her resignation, and her last official day will be Nov. 6. Grines was told to leave the city hall and take her belongings.
The auditor discovered a couple hundred voided checks, among other things.
"It’s a web and it’s very complicated and we want to be transparent," Davis said about the upcoming press conference.
On Friday, they discovered that not only was Grines listed on the city's bank account, but Alan Grindstaff was also on the account. Grindstaff was the former city manager in Marlin, but he was arrested in April over a traffic citation quota.
He was also fired in March after a vote by city council. Davis was elected in May.
Davis said they are already in the process of finding a replacement for Grines at this time.
