MOODY, TX — A Moody man was killed after being attacked by bees on Friday.
Police said the call came in around 1 p.m., that a man in his 60s was attacked by bees.
When Moody police arrived, they couldn't get close enough to the man because the bees were swarming.
Moody fire used their bunker gear and masks, but were still unable to get to the man. McGregor fire then came to the scene with their bee suits and were able to bring the man onto a stretcher.
Police said the man was already dead.
They said the man's wife told officers her husband was severely allergic to bees.
A few authorities were stung, as well as the wife and daughter of the man. However, no one else was severely injured.
Beekeepers are on the scene and authorities are still investigating.
The Moody City Administrator William Sterling released a statement reminding people to be aware of bees and wasps this summer. He said it is that time of year that all wildlife will become more active.
"As you are aware a profound tragedy has struck one of our Moody Families. Recognizing that life is often filled with inherit dangers please provide the following information to your viewers. As weather warms and families go to the outdoors, we must all be aware that we coexist with nature and nature’s creatures; some who are not friendly. As my entire community mourns this loss, our hearts go out to the family and I ask you pass this word that others may be spared this heart wrenching devastation."
