Madisonville police name 13-year-old battling cancer honorary detective

MADISONVILLE, TX — The Madisonville Police Department teamed up with Make-A-Wish Foundation to make a 13-year-old boy an honorary police detective.

According to the department, 13-year-old Caleb James Valdez is a cancer patient.

On Thursday, he was named an honorary police detective for the Madisonville Police Department.

A proclamation was presented by Mayor William Parten to make March 14, 2019, Caleb Valdez Day. He was sworn in by Chief Herbert Gilbert.

A badge was presented to Caleb with his personal badge number engraved on the badge.
