LAMPASAS, TX — A Lampasas Police Department officer is being recognized after he saved a bleeding man that was trapped under a trenching machine.
According to the City of Lampasas, on June 3, Officer Will Sneed was dispatched to an address on Deer Trail regarding a person stuck under a fence.
When he arrived, Officer Sneed found 22-year-old Tanner Lynch was not stuck under a fence. Instead, Lynch was partially entrapped by a trenching machine.
Lynch was suffering from a severe laceration and bleeding. Officer Sneed quickly applied a tourniquet to stop the bleed and kept Lynch as calm as possible to prevent him from going into shock until medical personnel arrived on scene.
Lampasas Chief of Police Sammy Bailey submitted for Officer Sneed to receive a Live Saving Award from the National Awards Program of the American Police Hall of Fame. Officer Sneed received the award during a city council meeting on August 12.
