TEMPLE, TX — There was a lot of buzz about bees at the Temple Public Library.
Kids were learning the importance of the insect and that they shouldn't be afraid of one if it flew by.
Crafts and other activities were out for kids to learn about the life of a bee, what it takes for them to pollinate, make honey and how important bees are to our environment.
According to a bee expert, one of the most interesting facts are that bees have to visit two million flowers just to make one pound of honey.
"We all need pollinators, for food production, because about a third of what we eat is directly associated with the honey bee," said Kim Lehman, the bee expert.
It's all about teaching kids at a young age about the life of a bee because of the hard work they do. Learning that they can also help bees by planting flowers that pollinate.
