HILLSBORO, Texas (KXXV) — Voters hit Hill County polls hard on Monday as officials told me hundreds came out for the start of early voting. Twenty-four hours later a different story. County officials didn't want to talk on camera but told me the turnout on Tuesday was actually slower.
I still saw a good bit of voters and while I didn't see any long waits - I did ask voters why they wanted to cast their ballot early.
"It's my patriotic duty and my right as an American citizen to vote in this independent country," said Hill County voter, Vicki Barnes.
"Being retired you become more involved with politics," said Hill County voter, Wallace Goff.
"I wanted to make sure my vote got in I think it's important to vote and early voting seems to be a good way to do that," said Hill County voter, Kerrick Newton.
"Well, something could come up. Something always comes up, an emergency and then you're out. You don't have to worry about it now for another two weeks," said Goff.
"It's a very important election. A lot of topics a lot of very important things that we need to really get in here and vote for," said Newton.
"This election is very important, and people realize the contrast of the two presidential candidates is very extreme," said Newton.
"Border protection, supporting Israel, the economy that's a big one our economy is horrible," said Barnes.
