ROCKDALE, Texas — The City of Rockdale began construction of its new storm drains along Childress Drive Wednesday.
The city started its "flood mitigation" project after receiving a $4 million grant.
The goal is to help lower chances of flooding during heavy rains.
The city will add more drains along Belton and MLK streets.
All drains are expected to be completed in the next 18 months.
