KILLEEN, TX — Killeen ISD students and staff were invited to a dedication ceremony for the new Maude Moore Wood Elementary school. The celebration comes just the day before students head back for another year of learning.
“I think I feel the same first day jitters that students feel, the unknowns. But also knowing in my heart that this is the best place for them,” said Principal Norma Baker.
Through collaboration with education leaders in the district, the school is offering flexible seating in the classroom.
“Flexible seating allows students to still be moving around but still be focused on the learning. We know it’s very difficult for adults to be still, even more so for the students,” said Baker. Wobble seats, bouncing balls and cushioned floor seats will be used in the classrooms.
The new school aims to challenge students and staff.
“Expectations are for all students to succeed to their maximum potential,” said Baker.
