GATESVILLE, TX — Gatesville ISD is canceling all extracurricular activities and adjusting their schedule through Monday to slow the spread of COVID-19.

The Gatesville Hornet's Friday playoff game will be canceled.

According to a COVID-19 update on GISD's Facebook, through Halloween, the district only had 17 cases between students and staff.

In November, they've seen an acceleration in numbers and now have 31 active cases. Fifteen of these cases have been diagnosed since Saturday. Gatesville's high school is most affected.

Gatesville ISD is proposing an adjusted schedule in the upcoming week to slow the spread.

Thursday, November 12 and Friday, November 13 will be a student/staff holiday. Monday, November 16 will be a virtual learning day for students and staff. All facilities will be shut down during this time.

Everyone who is not quarantined may return for regular in-person learning on Tuesday, November 17.
