MARLIN, TX — Former Marlin ISD Superintendent Michael Seabolt is under investigation by the TEA for misappropriation of funds and ethics violations.
According to a letter sent to Seabolt, The State Board of Educator Certification received information that impacted his Texas educator certificate. The Educator Investigations Division opened a case file to review and investigate the information.
Michael Seabolt resigned without a contract buyout in August 2018 after Marlin Independent School District Board of Trustees voted to place him on administrative leave.
Dr. Seabolt came aboard in 2015, and while some parents and employees didn't like his methods, board members say middle and high school scores were starting to improve. While at the same time, the TEA kept raising the bar.
