Falls County Sheriff Ricky Scaman has been arrested for sexual assault and felony assault on a public servant.
Texas Department of Public Safety Rangers arrested the sheriff on Monday, Septmber 21.
He has been charged with two counts of felony assault on a public servant, one count of sexual assault, and two counts of misdemeanor official oppression.
According to the indictment, on August 5, Sheriff Scaman allegedly penetrated the sexual organ of Victim 1 with his finger and/or hand without her consent. He also allegedly assaulted her and made unwanted sexual advances.
Victim 1 was an employee with the City of Marlin.
Sheriff Scaman is also accused of making unwanted sexual advances and assaulting a second victim, who worked at the Falls County Jail, on April 1.
The sheriff was booked into the Bell County Jail Monday afternoon and bonded out Monday evening.
DPS says no other details are available at this time.
Marlin City Manager Cedric Davis said he could not comment on an ongoing investigation.
Falls County Judge Jay Elliott, said he had no knowledge of the investigation into Sheriff Scaman, and he found the charges, "disappointing."
Judge Elliot says any actions he and the Commissioner's Court might take involving the Sheriff's office would only come at the direction of the County Attorney.
Scaman remains the Falls County Sheriff until he resigns, is convicted, or his term expires, in accordance with Texas law.
