(KXXV) — Dale Watson played a sold out show at the brand new 5J Dance Hall in McGregor. The story behind the dance hall was featured on "Texas Voices. "
"Real special to be on a grand opening night of a dance hall, period. You know, this is like the beginning of a history for Waco," said Watson.
The crowd enjoyed the classic country feel and the original McGregor skating rink floor turned dance floor.
Folks hope this is the beginning of a new Central Texas tradition.
"It's so important for me to bring this venue to Waco because so many people love this music and I feel like this is going to be the place they come out and actually enjoy it and dance to it. It feels good to be the person that's offering that," said owner Emily Jones Roberts.
There's live music every weekend and on April 27 "Route 4 Band" will take the stage.
