Crews battle two grass fires in Limestone County over weekend

LIMESTONE COUNTY, TX — Firefighters in Limestone County battled two grass fires that burned a total of 14 acres over the weekend.

On Saturday afternoon, crews battled a grass fire that burned 11 acres and 12 round bales near LCR 885, said Groesbeck Fire-Rescue in a Facebook post. East Lake Limestone Volunteer Fire Department, Shiloh VFD, and West Lake Limestone VFD all responded to the fire around 1:45 p.m. Crews had the fire contained by 4 p.m., said Groesbeck-Fire Rescue in a post.

On Sunday, crews put out a three acre grass fire in the area of FM 39 and LCR 445, according to Groesbeck-Fire Rescue. Firefighters responded to the fire at 11:54 a.m. and said it was put out by 1:45 p.m. The Mexia Fire Department, Groesbeck Fire-Rescue and Shiloh Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire.
