LAMPASAS, TX — During a recent visit to the Shoe Dept. in Lampasas, customer Lesa Fry noticed employees packing up items in boxes.

She then discovered the store would be closing its doors.

When she asked what she could do to help, she was given a number for the corporate office to discuss her concerns. Turns out she and several other people from the area made that call.

"Really nice lady talked to me and said, "Okay, well I will pass the information along,"" said Fry. "And then enough of us did it, got on Facebook, shared it to everybody, and hopefully, sounds like we made a difference."

Turns out, the store was able to keep its doors open.

“We didn’t want to lose it, and when we found out we were, we had a fit," said Fry. "We all stepped up and worked together and hopefully we definitely made a difference. Now we all got to go buy shoes, right?”

At this point, there is no clear answer as to how long the store will stay open.

However, employees shared they are thankful for the community stepping up and doing their part.
