TEMPLE, TX — Hundreds attended the Bliss Bridal Bash in Temple on Sunday, just as many brides and grooms begin planning for their big day.
Christmas day is the most popular day to get engaged. In fact, seven out of the top ten most popular days to slip a ring on your loves finger are in December. It is for this reason that January is a busy month for folks in the wedding business.
The event allows engaged couples to connect with dozens of vendors throughout Central Texas.
Many brides we spoke to say that it is important to have a budget in mind when planning.
In a recent study, about 75 percent of couples who planned a wedding in the past five years had a budget in mind. But about 60 percent of couples underestimated the cost.
“Weddings are a lot more expensive than I thought and there’s a lot more to it than I really imagined there would be,” said Candace Green, a bride-to-be.
Experts say doing your homework can help brides get the best value and service.
“When you’re planning your budget, you really want to do some research online,” said Angela Sims, owner and publisher, Bliss Bridal Magazine. “You can go in thinking one thing and it’s completely different by the time you get done,” she continued.
